Autonomous Control and Implementation of Coconut Tree Climbing and Harvesting Robot
Good morning people,
It is Sunday, even it’s a little bit cloudy, but it’s still beautiful
Sunday though… ^___^. For me, Sunday is a day when we have to cook something
interesting for the lunch, And today my wife and I made fried rice for
breakfast (typical Indonesian Navy Sunday breakfast), and fish and chips for the
lunch, because my friend gave some snappers and groupers this morning.
Anyway…
The resume for this week is a
coconut climber robot design using arduino microcontroller. Very practical
robot by the way. And here it is…
Enjooooyyy….

Title : Autonomous Control and Implementation
of Coconut Tree Climbing and Harvesting Robot.
Source :
Procedia Computer
Science 85 (2016) 755-766
Summary of Reported Research :
· The
purpose of the paper is to make a low cost coconut tree climber and harvester.
· The kinematics and the
motion of the robot are designed by referring to the motion of coconut harvester
(human).
· The
robot consists of two segments joined by a pair of threaded rods coupled to
motors and the mechanical parts is using aluminium, also it has 2 arms driven
by motors for holding/gripping.
· The
other part is a robotic arm for cutting down the coconuts, which is attached on
top of the climbing part.
· The
robot is automated using Arduino-Uno, motor H-bridge drivers, current and level
sensors and other supporting circuits, but the cutting arm is manually operated
by using remote controller.
· Robot
can be used in manual or automatic mode.
Strength of Reported Invention :
·
This robot system is a low cost system.
·
This system is simple and easy to build.
·
It can be used for industrial use.
·
It reduces the risk of harvester to be injured.
Weakness of Reported
Invention :
· The system movement is slow, because it uses
motor DC rather than pneumatic or hydraulic piston as actuator.
